Notes for C. Wilmer SUPPLEE
C. Wilmer Supplee, 90, of West Chester, a retired farmer and community activist, died of complications from a fall Tuesday at Chester County Hospital.
Mr. Supplee grew up on his father's dairy farm in Westtown and graduated from West Chester High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University.
In 1939, he married Bertha Price, whom he met at a church social. Together they worked a dairy farm in East Goshen Township.
For 18 years, he was a member of the Agriculture and Stabilization Committee of Chester County.
Mr. Supplee was a former Westtown Township supervisor and served as the Board of Supervisors secretary.
A 75-year Grange member, he had been a master, treasurer and chaplain of the Goshen Grange and was past master of the Pomona Grange.
His daughter Nancy Keslick said her father was active with the Goshen Fire Company for 50 years, had been a longtime fire police chief of the company and also had been the company's president.
In the late 1970s, Mr. Supplee sold his farm and retired.
His wife died in 1998. He is survived by another daughter, Sarah Credeur; three sisters; a brother; four grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
The funeral will be at noon tomorrow at Boyd Funeral Home, 101 S. Church St., West Chester. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon tomorrow and from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery in West Chester.
