Notes for William Thomas DAVIS

William Thomas Davis, 90, of Newtown Square, a retired employee of Western Savings Bank in Philadelphia and World War II veteran, died March 11 at Crosslands, Kennett Square.
He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Edward N.G. and Amelia Lavender Davis. He could trace his ancestors to the time of William Penn. Mr. Davis was a graduate of Blair Academy and the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the Navy during World War II.
An employee of Western Savings Bank, he retired in 1976. His memberships included the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker), the American Society of the Revolution, Masons (Bartrom Lodge, Media) and Philadelphia Cricket Club. Mr. Davis was active in community affairs and was honored by the Republican Party in 1997 in recognition of his service. His desire to serve the community was a legacy passed on to him by his father and grandfather. He also enjoyed tennis, travel, politics and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Ruthellen Pyle Davis and son, Randall P.K. Davis of Alexandria, Va.
Memorial Service: 2 p.m. today at Willistown Friends Meeting House, East Goshen Road and Warren Avenue, Willistown Township.
Burial: Private, in Concord Friends Burial Ground, Concordville.
