Notes for Josephine DIMAIO
Josephine M. Eyre of Greenville, Ill., formerly of Marcus Hook Josephine M. Eyre, 96 of Greenville, formerly of Marcus, Hook, PA., passed away at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville, Illinois. Josephine’s family gives thanks to the Lord for her presence in their lives. Josephine Marie DiMaio, the daughter of the late John DiMaio and the late Julia DiMaio, was born on Aug. 27, 1918 in Fara San Martino, Chieti, Italy. At the age of three, Josephine’s family came to American thru Ellis Island, settling in Marcus Hook, Pa. Josephine attended the public schools there and graduated from Chester High School. She worked for Delaware County Supply for several years, and then joined Scott Paper Company, advancing to an administrative assistant for the corporate office working there for 35 years. Josephine and the late George Dix Eyre were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1939 in Marcus Hook, and enjoyed over 65 years together before his death on April 17, 2005. They lived together in Media, Ocean City, N.J., and Spring Hill, Fla. and Greenville, Ill. She loved family times together, golf, and square dancing. Josephine was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in PA. and the United Methodist Church in Spring Hill, Florida. After moving to Greenville Josephine worshiped with the Greenville Free Methodist Church. Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Barbara E. (James) Butts of Greenville, Ill., Patricia E. (Ron) Barkman of West Chester; three grandchildren: Joanna and Dave Hoag, Jenni Butts, Ron and Kristie Barkman; great-grandchildren, Jamie and Ryan Sanfilippo, Joni and Scott Stanick, Taylor Barkman, Trey Barkman, and Jocelyn Barkman. Josephine also has many extended loving family members. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kim Barkman; and great-granddaughter, Meg Olivia Barkman. She is also the last of her generation of six DiMaio children being preceded in death by Lou DiMaio, Mary Almont, Howard DiMaio, Dom DiMaio, Ellen DiMaio. Josephine is present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will dearly miss her. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service, 11 a.m., Saturday March 28, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Road, Thornton, Pa. with her visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Glen Mills, Pa.
