RETIRED AD EXECUTIVE, 76 Horace D. Nalle, 76, a former advertising executive and investment counselor, died of Alzheimer's disease Thursday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Coatesville. He lived in Chestnut Hill.
Mr. Nalle began his professional career in 1946 with the former N.W. Ayer & Son, a local advertising agency. He spent more than 25 years in advertising, rising to senior vice president.
In the mid 1970s, Mr. Nalle changed careers and joined the investment firms Janney Montgomery Scott and the former Delafield Harvey & Tabell, now called U.S. Trust of New Jersey. He retired in 1986.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton in 1944. He was a 1940 graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy.
Mr. Nalle was active in numerous civic, cultural, educational and social organizations. His sporting interests included skiing, golf, tennis and participating in long-distance yacht races.
He served with the Army in Europe during World War II and in the Korean War. He earned the Bronze Star in Korea.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Ethel Benson Nalle; three sons, Edwin N.B., Horace D. Jr. and Alexander B.; two daughters, Ellen N. Hass and Lucinda N. Weed; two brothers; a sister; and 12 grandchildren.
