Notes for Verne T. LEEDOM

Verne T. Leedom, a retired quality assurance manager, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 10, 2011 in Mercy Suburban Hospital with his loving family at his side at the age of 81. Mr. Leedom, a resident of Norristown, was a member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Norristown. He was employed by Warner & Swayze of King of Prussia and drove vehicles, a dealer car trader for John F. Kennedy Ford. He was a member of The Ancient Order of Hibernian (AOH) of Swedesburg. He was the 2004 Grand Marshall of The Annual Irish Parade, former Vice President of The AOH, Sergeant at Arms of the Degree Team, participating in 66 degrees, never missing one, former drum major of the Irish Thunder Pipe & Drum Corp., member of the annual golf outing committee, shuffle board team and the annual Irish Day Parade Committee. He was a Marshall of the Montgomery Co. AOH County Board. He was a member of the Swedesburg Vol. Fire Co., former Athletic Director of St. Francis of Assisi CYO of Norristown, former PIAA Basketball official and former Montco Umpire. Verne also played Minor League Baseball with the Philadelphia Athletics. He attended a one room school house in Ivyland, Pa. and graduated from Hatboro High School Class of 1949. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was awarded the NDSM and The Good Conduct Medal. With all his activities, Verne always found time for his family, to put it in context, Verne was a loving husband, daddy and grandfather. Born in Horsham on June 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Chester and Marion (Thomas) Leedom. Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years: Ann (O'Donnell) Leedom; son, Sean T. Leedom and his wife Richelle, of Norristown; daughters, Terri Gravinese, and her husband David, of Oaks, Elizabeth "Buffy" Shuster and her husband Daniel, of Limerick; grandchildren, Sean V., Sarah, Zachary, Shae, Arianna, Kyle, Christian, Reilly and Quinn. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, August 13 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Dekalb St. Norristown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
