Notes for Charles G. BRINGHURST
BRINGHURST, CHARLES G. 85 - of Ocean City, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 in The Shores at Wesley Manor. Mr. Bringhurst was born in Ocean City and had been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Ocean City High School Class of 1943 where he excelled as a member of the OCHS Basketball Team. He served with the United States Navy during World War II until his honorable discharge. He played basketball in the Ocean City Men's Basketball League on The Chatterbox Team. He worked for the United States Postal Service at the Ocean City Post Office for 43 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, where he was active with the United Methodist Men's group He was predeceased by his parents: Robert T. and Sally (nee Benner) Bringhurst; two brothers: Robert T. Bringhurst, Jr. and Franklin "Yank" Bringhurst; and a sister: Esther Meenan. Surviving are his wife of 64 years: Eleanor (nee Pierce) Bringhurst, a son, F. Richard Bringhurst, MD (Lindsay) of Walpole, MA, a daughter, Carol McAllister Oaks (Robert) of Upper Township, NJ, and six grandchildren: Robert McAllister, Kimberly Pettit (Robert), Richard "Erick" McAllister (Erin), Ryan Bringhurst, Troy Bringhurst, Jeffrey Bringhurst, and four great grandchildren: Kiley and Sean Pettit, and Jack and Izzy McAllister. Friends are welcome to call this Friday, January 6th, from 11 until 11:45 at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, 8th Street at Central Avenue, Ocean City. Charlie's Funeral Service will be offered Friday at 12 o'clock noon. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
