Notes for Vincent E. LEEDOM
Vincent E. Leedom of Newtown passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was 88.
Born in Dolington, Pa., Vince was the son of the late Elmer Barber Leedom and Emily Kehlenbeck Leedom. He was a lifelong resident of the Newtown area and was a 1939 graduate of Newtown High School.
Mr. Leedom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
He retired from Leedom's Fabricating Inc., Newtown.
Vince was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church for 70 years, serving not only as a deacon but also in the Usher's Association for more than 50 years.
He was a member of the Morell Smith Post 440 of the American Legion, a founding member of the Ambulance Squad, a member of the Defiance Lodge 335, Knights of Pythias, and the Newtown Lodge 427 Free and Accepted Masons.
He also volunteered at Doylestown Hospital.
Vince will be remembered for his lifelong love of cars, mechanical ability, neatness, his great sense of humor, common sense, and positive approach to life. He was always a gentleman and a selfless man who had a strong work ethic and was happiest doing for others. He cherished the time he spent with his family and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather great grandfather and friend. Vince will be deeply missed.
Vince is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Helen Leslie Leedom with whom he shared 67 years of marriage; his loving daughters, Kay L. Mohline and her husband, Douglas, Barbara L. Tanner and her husband, Tim; three grandchildren, Tim S. Tanner, Jr. and his wife, Jody, John D. Mohline, Amy Lynne Schlitter and her husband, Jason; three great-grandchildren, Donald Joseph Tanner, Allie Nicole Tanner and Peyton Lynne Schlitter; and several nieces and nephew who were very special to him. He was the brother of the late Harvey M. Leedom and Eloise L. Dederer.
