Notes for Beverly BONFIG

Beverly (Bonfig) Cody, 87, of Wilton, CT, and Cape Cod, MA, died on June 15, 2011, at the Norwalk (CT) Hospital. She was born January 19, 1924 in Kansas City, MO, to Henry and Cordelia Bonfig. Beverly graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1945 and shortly thereafter met Richard S. Cody. They were married in 1946 and settled in Winnetka, IL, in suburban Chicago, where they raised their family. Bev was active in community work on the North Shore and served as an executive with the Illinois Prairie Girl Scouts from 1974 to 1992. Richard passed away in 1991 and in 1993 Bev relocated to Brewster, Cape Cod, MA, where she reconnected with John Carroll Pennock, who became her loving companion until his death in 2005. She was involved in the Wellfleet Writers Group and the Snow Library in Orleans. Bev loved baseball, gardening, and politics and cherished her diverse friendships. Her quick wit and zest for life will be missed by many. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Fritz) Newenhuyse, of Winfield, IL; Barbara (Neal) Rosner, of Flossmoor, IL, and Madisonville, KY; Todd (Kristi) Cody, of Ridgefield, CT; and Anne Cody, of Oakham, MA. She was loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Bonfig, of Brasstown, NC. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Bonfig. A memorial service will take place on Cape Cod at a time and place to be announced. Interment will take place in Kansas City. There will be no calling hours.
