Notes for Robert West LAMBORN
Robert West Lamborn, 95, of Naples, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30th.
Bob was born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 10, 1917 and was the only child of West and Elizabeth Lamborn (nee Murphy). After attending college, Bob enlisted in the Navy and served honorably for four years. During his service, he was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone and also served in the Office of Censorship in Hingham, Massachusetts. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal.
On June 24, 1944, he married his beloved, Kathryn "Kitty" Elizabeth Barlow, at First & Central Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. Bob and Kitty were deeply devoted to each other and were happily married for over 65 years.
During his career, Bob worked for DuPont and then began his own company in Wilmington specializing in the provision of materials for the construction and steel industries. After retirement, Bob and Kitty moved to Naples and lived first at Bears Paw Country Club and then Bentley Village where they both enjoyed playing golf and traveling with their circle of friends. Bob was an active tournament volunteer with Bears Paw and the "Robert W. Lamborn Award" is awarded each year to the best volunteer at the Club.
Bob was predeceased by Kitty, as well as his sister-in-law, Josephine Armstrong. He is survived by friends in both Naples and Wilmington.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Lower Brandywine Cemetery in Wilmington.
