John was the son of Pusey and Catherine (Chalmers) Pemberton. His father was born in Pennsylvania. His mother was born in Scotland. John was a World War I veteran. John Pemberton and Theresa Marie Cage were married October 28, 1922 in Newark, Del. John was an electric welder for the railroad. In 1940 John and Theresa were living in Newark, Del. with daughter Marie, 15, and sons Pusey, 6, and George, 2.
