Notes for Joseph Newton IV PEW

PEW JOSEPH NEWTON, IV
70, of Oley, passed away June 10, 2017, in his Ruscombmanor Township home. He was the husband of Dianne Renee (Weber) Pew, whom he married on April 14, 1991.
Born October 14, 1946 in Palo Alto, CA, he was a son of the late Joseph Newton, III and Doris (Myers) Pew.
Joe was a graduate of The Haverford School, and Nova Scotia Technical College, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He also graduated from the University of Pennsyl-vania, where he earned his doctorate in internal medicine.
He was the owner of Reading Crest Medical Associates, where he practiced medicine for 27 years, retiring in 2009.
Joe attended New Life Bible Fellowship Church, Oley.
An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Blooming Grove Hunting and Fishing Club in the Poconos. Joe also had a love for and was a collector of model trains.
He was Chairman of the Board for Glenmede Trust Company and one of the directors of the Pew Charitable Trusts. He was a member of both boards for more than 30 years, and treasured the opportunity to contribute to the success of those organizations.
Joe was keenly intelligent, with a mischievous sense of humor. He was thoughtful, kind, and unfailingly generous, always willing to give help or advice to anyone who asked. Above all else, he loved his family. He was an adoring husband, a loving older brother, an extraordinary father and step-father, and a doting grandfather who always made sure he had extra time for his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children: Joseph N., V, husband of Marion (Pepper) Pew of Seattle, WA; Meghan J. Pew of East Montpelier, VT and Robert M.H., husband of Bridget (Fenimore) Pew of Wyomissing.
Also surviving are his two stepchildren: Kevin R., husband of Brenda Hoch of Shillington and Kelly R., wife of Thomas J. Smith, III. of Ruscombmanor Township. Other survivors include his five siblings: J. Howard Pew II., Thomas Pew, James Pew, Cathy Pew and Marion Scott. There are six surviving grandchildren and one on the way.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Bible Fellowship Church, 2960 W. Philadelphia Ave., Oley, PA 19547. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the church. Burial will be private at Frieden's Cemetery, Oley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Life Bible Fellowship Church, at the above address and/or Hope Rescue Mission, 645 N. Sixth Street, Reading, PA 19601.
