Frederic Smith

The many friends of Frederic J. Smith will be surprised to hear of his very sudden death, by pneumonia, on Wednesday, February 4th, at his home on Maple avenue, West Chester.

Mr. Smith was in his 53d year, and was the son of Mrs. M. Elizabeth and the late Hutchinson Smith of Jenkintown. He was born in Weldon where his father conducted a general store of which he later on assumed charge. Mr. Smith left this business to enter in the nursery business and at the time of his death, he was connected with the Hoopes & Townsend Company, of West Chester. He is survived by his widow, Caroline T. Smith, two sons, Joseph H., and Franklin J., his mother M. Elizabeth Smith, of West avenue, Jenkintown, a brother Comly Smith, of Germantown, and a sister, Mrs. Leroy Fetter, of West avenue, Jenkintown.

Funeral services were held at his home in West Chester, Saturday, at 10 o'clock, and also at Abington Friends' meeting house, Jenkintown, 2 p.m. following which interment was made in Abington Friends' cemetery.
