Notes for Thomas R. SICOLI

Thomas Sicoli, 97, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of West Chester, died on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at his home in Arkansas, with his wife at his side.

He was born in West Chester, the oldest son of the late Domenic and Vincenzina Lupo Sicoli.

He was the husband of Norma Sicoli, with whom he shared 17 years of marriage, and the late Mary Mood Sicoli, with whom he had shared 54 years of marriage.

He graduated in 1930 from West Chester High School, where he was a standout three-sport athlete, and from Kalix Trade School in Philadelphia.

He worked as a welding technician at Lasko Metal Products of West Chester, Baldwin Locomotive Works, later Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Co. of Eddystone, Westinghouse Inc., Lester, and the Bruce Lake Co. of Coatesville.

He was a member of St. Agnes Church of West Chester.

He also belonged to the Italian Social Club, Lodge Guido Baccelli, Sons of Italy, the Elks Lodge of West Chester and of Bella Vista, Ark., and numerous other social and fraternal organizations in West Chester, as well as the Pennsylvania Federation of Fraternal and Social Organizations. He attended many national conventions of the Elks organization.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Thomas and Mary Lou Sicoli of West Chester; grandson, Michael T. Sicoli, husband of Kirsten of Arlington, Va.; granddaughter, Kathryn F. Sicoli of West Chester; and two great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Matthew Sicoli of Virginia. Also, he is survived by two brothers, Joseph Sicoli of West Chester and Domenic Sicoli Jr. of Arizona; as well as five sisters, Stella Doran, Rose Valentino, wife of Joseph, Latisha Hemphill, Isabel Madden, wife of John, and Mary McCool, wife of Francis, all of West Chester.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony, Henry and Robert.

Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.drsfh.com.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Villanova University Office of Development, 800 Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA 19085.
