Notes for Amy BLUM
Amy Blum Haines, 61, of Fort Washington died December 21, 2010 at Keystone House Hospice. Amy had been active in the Chestnut Hill community, both through her work and her volunteer services, for many years. She was the Director of Volunteer Services for 15 years at Springfield Residence and Chestnut Hill Rehabilitation Hospital. Most recently she worked in the accounting department for Congregation Adath Jeshrun in Elkins Park. She served on the board of the Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment, and had been recently elected to the board of Bird-In-Hand, where she was an active volunteer. Her volunteer work extended to Chestnut Hill Academy and Springside School where she had been an active parent. At CHA she was involved with the Clothes Closet as a bookkeeper as well as a volunteer, and was also a teaching assistant in the lower-school. At Springside, she was a member of the Board of Trustees and served as the head of the Alumni Association. She had mostly worked in Chestnut Hill and held fond memories of time spent at The Baggage Room, Serendipity and Mes Enfants Boutique. Amy was born in Philadelphia and grew up in West Mt. Airy. She graduated from Springside School and Garland Junior College, now known as Simmons College. She is survived by her husband, William H Haines IV, daughter Nancy (Nathaniel Balis), son Andrew (Regina) her father, Jerome Blum (Harrylee), her brother Edward Blum (Nan Covert) and new grandson Miles Balis. A memorial service was held December 27th at Joseph Levine Memorial Chapel. Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
