Francis A. Pennock retired from the Ferro Corp., where he had been a chemical engineer for more than 30 years. He was also active at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and eucharistic minister.
Mr. Pennock died Sunday at Parma Community General Hospital. He was 78.
He was born in Lancaster, Pa. He was a resident of Brooklyn for 50 years. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Franklin & Marshall College in 1942. During World War II, he served in the Navy.
Mr. Pennock enjoyed golf and bowling. In recent years he was active in the Brooklyn Senior Citizen Club. He was a longtime officer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member of the Holy Name Society at his church.
Mr. Pennock's wife, Helen Louise, died in 1991.
Mr. Pennock is survived by sons, Thomas A. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael F. of North Olmsted and Patrick W. of Los Angeles; daughters, Kathleen L. Gibel of Strongsville and Mary Ellen Ryan of Brooklyn; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4170 N. Amber Dr., Brooklyn.
