Dorothy Louise Garrett Cleaver, 70, a lifelong resident of the West Chester area who volunteered her time to local service organizations, died Tuesday in Chester County Hospital, West Chester.
Born in West Chester, Mrs. Cleaver was a 1939 graduate of the George School in Bucks County. She lived in West Goshen Township and the West Chester area her entire life.
She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of West Chester.
She also belonged to the Eastern Star 352 of West Chester and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tall Cedars 22 of Lebanon.
Mrs. Cleaver donated her spare time to working in the Rediscovery Shop in Frazer, a resale shop whose proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Chester County for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Barrett Cleaver Jr.; three sons, Randolph P. Cleaver, Kenneth G. Cleaver and Donald M. Cleaver; a sister, and five grandchildren.
A funeral was to be held Thursday in the Founds Funeral Home, West Chester. Burial was to be in Grove Methodist Cemetery, West Whiteland, at the convenience of the family.
