Notes for Donald F. TALLEY
Donald F. Talley, of Wilmington, Delaware, died on February 3, 2016, at the age of 92. A life-long resident of the Wilmington Delaware area, Donald attended P.S. duPont High School, Louisiana State University and Pennsylvania Military College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
During World War II, Donald served with the 104th Infantry Division in Europe where he saw combat action in Holland, Belgium and Germany and was awarded the bronze star for heroic achievements in connection with military operations. In addition to the bronze star, he was also awarded two campaign stars and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Delaware Veterans.
In 1959, Donald and William H. Mann formed the engineering and surveying firm of Mann-Talley, Inc. and established offices in Wilmington, Milford, Georgetown and Rehoboth Beach. They were the engineers and surveyors of record for many of the larger residential and commercial projects in Delaware from 1960 to the mid1980s.
Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Hilda Shaffer Talley of Wilmington, DE, (married in July 1942), his parents Earl and Emma Talley and two sisters, Helen Talley Breeding and Jane Talley Cullen. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lana Talley Campbell of Milford, DE his grandson, Donald Campbell of Virginia Beach, VA, his granddaughter, Donna Campbell Nash of Milford, DE, four great grandsons, one great granddaughter and a sister, Ida Talley Crozier.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Friends and relatives may visit from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A committal service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
