Notes for Flora Margaret JONES

Margaret Pugh Cashel of West Grove Flora Margaret Jones Pugh Cashel, age 90, died Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Jenner's Pond Preston facility, in West Grove, PA. Mrs. Cashel was born in Landenberg, London Britain Township, Pa, on August 23, 1920. She was the daughter of Emmett and Fraza Vet Johnson Jones, and the widow of Charles Stokes Pugh, Sr., and Raymond Leroy Cashel. She is predeceased by three brothers Roy, Denis, and Robert Jones. A graduate of Kennett Square High School, she worked at Conard-Pyle in West Grove, Oxford Area School District, University of Delaware in Newark, and the VA Hospital in Coatesville. She was a long-time member and clerk of the Nottingham Monthly Meeting of Friends (Oxford), and also attended the Newark Unitarian Church. She loved to garden, sew, knit, quilt, and crochet. With her closest friends she created hundreds of children's quilts for the American Friends Service Committee to distribute worldwide. She was a volunteer at the Oxford Neighborhood Services Center. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, and an assortment of other word puzzles. She loved to travel, hike and camp, and being with friends and family. She had a great sense of humor and compassion which she retained until the end. She is survived by three sons, Charles Pugh and wife Carol of Willow Street, Pa, David Pugh and wife Linda of Newark, Del, and William Pugh and wife Steffi of Kennett Square, Pa; a stepdaughter, Leslie Cashel M.D., of Greenville, Rhode Island; and a stepson Glenn Cashel and wife Isabel of Eugene, Oregon and their daughter Jessica Rossi. She has five grandchildren, Sara Faulkner (Edward) and Jason Pugh, Lindsey Sweet (Joshua), Evan and Graham Pugh (Emily), and two step-grandsons Steven (Jeannie) and Philip (Becky) Matsen; four great-grandchildren: Amanda, Gwendolynne, and Edward Faulkner, and Asher Sweet; and five step-great-grand-daughters Julia, Stefanie, Jessica, Elizabeth and Ashley Matsen, and many nephews and nieces. Interment will be private. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in the manner of friends at the Oxford Friends Meetinghouse, 260 South Third Street, Oxford, PA 19363, on Sunday, November 21 at 1 p.m.
