Notes for Gilbert Stroud HOOPES

Gilbert S. Hoopes, 66, of Pottstown, passed away on Saturday in Douglassville. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Doris (Stroud) Hoopes and the late Edward Hoopes.
He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Viet-Nam War who was also the recipient of a Purple Heart Medal, and he had attended Owen J. Roberts High School prior to his enlistment in the Marine Corps. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, collecting and restoring antiques, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Gilbert is survived by his sons; Gilbert R. Hoopes, husband of Kathryn, of North Coventry, Robert A. Hoopes, husband of Lora, of Fayston, VT., his daughters; Dawn Lederer, wife of Jeffrey, of East Coventry, Suzanne R. O’Neill, wife of James, of East Vincent, his grandchildren; Gretchen, Kristian, DePrise, Aiden, Jesse, Mia. He is also survived by his brother; Ralston Hoopes, of Pottstown, his sisters; Karen Cadwalader and Lisa Rauch, both of W. Va., his step-mother; Lorna Hoopes-Hardt, of Gladwynne, and his cat, Sammy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown, Pa., 19464, and to his Visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery; Newtown, Pa. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, 1 Veterans Drive, Spring City, Pa., 19475.
