Notes for Phebe E. MANN

Phebe M. Ingram, 94, died at home Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.
She was predeceased by her husband, William A. S. Ingram, having shared 53 years of marriage.
Phebe was the daughter of the late Charles F. Mann and Hettie M. Darlington Mann.
She was born and raised in West Chester, graduating from West Chester High School in 1933.
Phebe was employed at the Denney Tag Co. in West Chester. Later she enjoyed working as a baker at Henderson High School and East High School when it first opened.
Her cooking, baking, cake making and especially cookie making, are legendary to her family and a large extended family of friends.
Phebe was an avid reader. Her interests were broad including mysteries, nature and religious-themed books.
She was also an active amateur radio operator until shortly before her death. Operating with the radio call letters K3HAI she, along with William (W3ZAT) and members of the local amateur radio club often provided radio communications for snowplow operators and other civil emergency personnel in an era before citizens band radio and cell phones.
Phebe and William were founding members of St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Malvern. Her attendance and association with St. Francis were a most valued part of her life.
Phebe is survived by sons, Dr. William C. Ingram of Kensington, N.H., and Robert S. Ingram of West Chester; and granddaughters, Rebekah Ingram-Lamarre of Montreal, Canada, and Dr. Sarah Ingram of West Newbury, Mass. Also surviving is great-granddaughter, Elizabeth of Montreal.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, at St. Francis-in-the-Fields, 689 Sugartown Road, Malvern.
Interment will follow in Oaklands Cemetery in West Chester.
