Notes for John Thompson Jr. DORRANCE

John T. Dorrance Jr., 70, Hampton University board member, died Sunday, April 9, in Bryn Mawr Hospital.
A native of Cinnaminson, N.J., he was a graduate of St. George's School, Newport, R.I. and Princeton University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He served as chairman of Campbell Soup Company from 1962 to 1984. He joined the board of directors for Campbell in 1947 and became chairman of the board's executive committee in 1984. He has also served on the boards of J.P. Morgan and Company, Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, Nieman-Marcus Group, and Penn Mutual Life Insuance Company.
He was former chairman of the board of Philadelphia Museum of Art and served on the boards of Philadelphia Maritime Museum, PennJerDel Corporation and World Wildlife Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Rogers Dripps Dorrance; one daughter; two sons; and eight grandchildren.
