Arthur Brosius, 90, former owner of a lumberyard and later a partner in an insurance company, died of an aneurysm Monday at Chester County Hospital. He lived at the Crosslands in Kennett Square and formerly in Avondale.
Mr. Brosius was once co-owner of the former Wilson & Brosius Lumberyard in Toughkenamon. In 1948, after eight years in the lumber-supply business, he sold out and became a partner in the insurance company of Pusey, Brosius & Watson and a related firm, Avon Grove Realty.
The insurance company specialized in property and casualty insurance. Mr. Brosius retired in the late 1970s.
He graduated from George School in Newtown, Bucks County, in 1929. He attended Duke University.
He played golf and until recently shot in the 70s, his family said. He was a member of the Kennett Square Golf & Country Club.
Mr. Brosius enjoyed classical music and traveling. He was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Sarah Turner Brosius; two sons, Arthur 2d and Newton T.; a daughter, Suzanne B. Pusey; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
