Notes for Abraham William HOGELAND

A. William Hogeland, 93, a resident of Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, died on June 23 at Brandywine Hospital following an illness.
Born in Montana, Mr. Hogeland grw up in Bucks County, Pa. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1938 with a degree in chemical engineering.
Mr. Hogeland was a retired vice president of Roy F. Weston and plant manager for FMC Corp. He served as a plant engineer and manager of the Fredericksburg, Va., facility. When FMC was sold, he worked for Roy F. Weston, Inc., as a project manager of projects division, energy department manager, vice-president-design from 1975 until retirement in 1986.
He was commissioned as Ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1942, served Torpedo officer at the Naval Air Station in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., where the shop prepared torpedoes for TBF Avenger pilots.
Mr. Hogeland was active in church responsibilities and served as trustee and elder in the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church. Between 1970 and 1996, he was trustee and councilman in the Lownes Free Church (The Blue Church) in Springfield, Delaware County. He also served on the Missions Committee and the Pastoral Search Committee of the Blue Church.
At Tel Hai, he active in volunteer services, serving as committee chairman for the annual flea market. He was co-chairman of the Capital Fund drive for the Life Assurance Fund and a member of the Tel Hai Association’s Board of Directors.
He was the son of the late Theo and Gertrude Yerkes Hogeland. He was husband of Helen Martin McMichael Hogeland and the late Esther Robert Quimby Hogeland. He was the brother of Sue Turner.
Survivors: Son, Glen W. Hogeland; daughter, Caroline H. Stone; Step-children, Robert C. McMichael, Lynn McMichael; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
