Notes for Gladys M. ALGARD
Gladys A. Coates, 94, a lifetime area resident of Oxford, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford.
She was the wife of the late C. Francis Coates.
Born in Chrome, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Jessie M. Watson Algard.
Gladys was a bookkeeper for Warren Samples Law Office, Oxford, for 20 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Charles H. Coates of Buena Park, Calif. and Alan E. Coates of Oxford; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Marion Puerta, Mildred Jay, Mary Ellen Rapson and Susan Schob.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, at the Oxford Cemetery, 220 N. Third St., Oxford.
