Anna T. Walter, 83, of Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, formerly of Steelville, died Saturday at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
A homemaker, she volunteered with the Red Cross and Hospital Aid during World War II. She also volunteered at the former Coatesville Hospital.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Compass.
Mrs. Walter attended Penn State University and was a member of the social sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling and hooking rugs.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Edwin S. and Margaret Kenedy Thorne.
She was married to George W. Walter for 64 years on June 10.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, J. Michael, husband of Stephanie A. Walter of Steelville; two grandchildren; a brother, Earl K. Thorne of Parkesburg; and a sister, Edna T., wife of Paul Bartels of New Providence.
