Notes for Bartholomew Howard Jr. DRISCOLL

Bartholomew Howard Driscoll Jr.

Age 71, beloved father and friend was taken too soon from us on July 19th with family and friends by his side after a long battle with lymphoma.
Bart was predeceased by his wife Keene Corin Driscoll and is survived by his daughter Kimberly Clare Driscoll, son Christopher Howard Driscoll, granddaughter Amber Marie Litz and his longtime friend and companion Robin Kershaw.
Bart was a 1960 graduate of Chichester High School where he was a three sport athlete and co-captain of the football team while being voted "Best All Around" his senior year. He continued his education at Widener University where he also excelled at football. After college he served his country in the National Guard. Bart later worked as a chemical technician for Allied Chemical for 28 years and then for Sartomer Industries until his retirement.
Bart continued his love of sports by playing softball for Allied Chemical and then coaching for Claymont Little League for many years. After working all day he was always there to have a catch or throw batting practice. When he was tired he would just throw knuckleballs and both the batter and catcher were in trouble. He stayed in shape thanks to his daily workouts at the Kirkwood Fitness Club where he would make you look like a fool on the racquetball court if you dared to enter.
Bart was a skilled and versatile angler. Whether is was fly fishing in the Poconos, where he served on the board of directors for the Lower Toby Sportsman Club, or chasing tuna and marlin in the canyons off New Jersey, "Unbearable Bart" could catch it all. The only thing he enjoyed more than catching a fish was teaching someone else how to catch one.
Bart was a longtime member of the Wilmington Ski Club where he served as the treasurer and assistant treasurer, and helped out whenever he was asked. Bart made many trips with the club doing downhill skiing out west, and traveling to Costa Rica, Holland, Andorra and Spain on sightseeing/adventure trips. Bart was also a longtime member of the Wilmington Trail Club where he enjoyed hiking and cross country skiing.
Bart's down time consisted of tending his ever growing garden and sharing the fruits and vegetables of his labor with others. In his spare time he would work as a handyman helping out those who needed it. His cooking skills were also impressive as his homemade jams and breads were legendary and his sand tarts were a holiday treat.
Bart was one of the good ones and will be truly missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on August 1st at 1 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension at 3717 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont, Delaware with a celebration of Bart's life at Stanley's Tavern afterward. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or just go and give your dad a hug.
