E. Dillwyn Darlington, 87, a lawyer in Bucks County for 56 years who formerly lived in Feasterville, died of pneumonia Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He lived in Wilmore, Ky.
Until 2004, Mr. Darlington maintained a law practice in Feasterville for more than 30 years. He had previously been a partner in a law firm in Morrisville. He was former solicitor of Northampton Township.
He was a Mason and active in the Feasterville Business Association, Middletown Grange, the Republican Party of Bucks County, and the Civil War Round Table in Doylestown. He was on the board of the Lower Southampton Library and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton.
A graduate of Doylestown High School, Mr. Darlington earned a bachelor's degree from Ursinus College and a master's degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II, he served in the Army in the States and in occupied Germany, where he was in charge of a civilian hospital. After his discharge, he earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
He came from a family of horticulturists, his daughter Katharine Feinberg said, and was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. He enjoyed travel.
In addition to his daughter, Mr. Darlington is survived by daughters Nancy Paul and Janet; a son, David; a brother; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Darlington, and by former wives Emily Darlington and Louise Darlington.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd., Feasterville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. tomorrow and from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Doylestown Cemetery.
