In 1948, He moved into textile fiber sales in Wilmington, DE for work on "Lycra" spandex fiber, industrial and carpet yarns as well as export marketing until his retirement in 1981 with more than 40 years of service. He taught fly tying locally under the auspices of Trout Unlimited and custom rod building at Delaware Technical & Community College. In 1989, he became editor of RodCrafters Journal to write about rod building, which developed in the next decade into his becoming moderator of an annual nationwide series of four to six week-end seminars on custom rod building.
