Deceased Name: Clarence J. Steele, 82, Drumore native
Clarence J. "Bob" Steele, 82, of Cochranville, died of natural causes Thursday at Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove.
An auto mechanic most of his life, Steele worked at the former George Freeman's Packard Garage in Coatesville, Ernie Pattons in Coatesville and Harris and Steele Garage in Cochranville. He retired in 1986 after working 10 years for PennDOT.
He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific during World War II.
An avid guitarist and bluegrass fan, he was a member of Cocalico Valley Jammers Bluegrass Band of Lancaster County.
Born in Drumore, he was the son of the late H. Cadet and Mary Johnson Steele.
He was married 51 years to Jean E. Harris Steele.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lillian M. Ryan of Kennett Square; a son, Jay T. of Cochranville; two grandchildren; and a sister, Abbie A. Newswanger of Kinzers.
