Notes for Joseph Walter HOOPES
Joseph Walter Hoopes, 67, of Auburn, passed away January 30 at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with his family by his side.
He was born August 5, 1942 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Walter and Victoria (Luszczak) Hoopes.
He graduated from Bishop Kendrick High School Norristown, PA in 1960, Villanova University in 1964. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1964 until 1969.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Sullivan Hoopes; daughter of Stephen and Grace Sullivan; his brother Gary Hoopes, 3 nephews, Matthew, T.J. and Todd, all of Norristown, PA.; and niece, Colleen (Sullivan) Landry of Auburn, Maine.
He joined IBM in 1969, and worked in Vestal, Kinston and Poughkeepsie, NY with temporary assignments in Charlotte, N.C, and Hursley, England. He retired from IBM in 2000 as a project manager. He joined the local chapter of PMI in Albany, NY in 1992, where he served as treasurer for 3 years. He also co-taught Project Management courses at Marist, with his wife, Joan.
He vacationed extensively throughout his life and especially loved going to Hawaii in the winter.
Joseph was predeceased by his father, Walter Hoopes, and his mother, Victoria Hoopes.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred in Joseph’s memory to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 819, Lewiston, ME, 04243.
