Richard Levis Taylor, Jr., 76 of Aston, PA
DIED: Friday, December 25, 2009 at home BORN IN: Ridley Park, Mr. Taylor was raised and educated in Fitchburg, Mass, before moving to Aston in 1961.
VETERAN: Navy veteran of the Korean War serving for 4 year
EMPLOYMENT: Pennsylvania, Penn Central and Conrail railroads, for 35 years, retiring in 1990 from the System's Mechanical Department. After his retirement he assisted in running a family business "Gooey Louies" in South Philadelphia.
ORGANIZATIONS: Church: Longtime parishioner of The Church of St Joseph, Aston, PA
Other: A devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr Taylor was a former officer and coached for many years in the early Organization of Aston A.A. He also was a former President of the Sun Valley Touchdown Club for two years. He was personally active in baseball during his navy career, playing against Major League stars, Willie Mays, Dick Groat, Wes Covington and many more, and continued to play on various local teams in the Philadelphia and DELCO Areas. He was a lifetime Boston Red Sox and Celtic fan. Was a member of the American Legion Post #926.

SURVIVORS: Survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Ann (Mulligan) Taylor; One Son: Richard A. Taylor of Aston, PA; Three Daughters: Ann R. (Samy) Azer of Wilmington, DE, Margaret H. (Danny) Guy of Chadds Ford, PA and Helen B. (Alan) Pietrewicz of Drexel Hill, PA; One Sister: Helen M. (Bart) Branch of Bedford, NH; Also survived by 13 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICE INFORMATION: Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Thursday at The Church of St Joseph, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014. interment Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA. friends may call 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Thursday at The Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA.
Contributions in memory of Richard Taylor may be given to Wagner's Research at the University of Pennsylvania, Checks payable to "Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania," 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Phila., PA 19104; or The Church of St Joseph at the above address.
