Notes for Christine BOCKIUS

Christine Bockius Moyes died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Pennswood Village in Newtown, her home for 22 years, after a short illness. She was 94.
Born May 3, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., to Christopher and Blanche Bockius, she lived in Passaic and Ridgewood, N.J., Stamford, Conn., Birmingham, Mich., Highland Park, Ill., Dallas, Texas and Yardley.
She attended Swarthmore College and Katharine Gibbs.
After moving to Yardley in 1957, she served as Lower Makefield Township Manager during the 60s and 70s and became reconnected to the Quaker community by joining Yardley Friends Meeting, where she was active for 50 years. Additionally, for many years she served on the Board of Friends Home and Village.
At Pennswood Village, she served on the Corporate Board and was active on many committees, among them, Financial Review, Nominating, Bucks County Community College, Diversity Task Force, Outreach and Fellowship Fund.
She was a certified African Violet judge, an avid reader, and needle pointer. She particularly enjoyed traveling to visit her children in Switzerland, England, Dominican Republic, and the Far East.
Tai chi, staying fit, Sudoku word puzzles and the computer were special interests.
Descended from Ludvic Bockius, who died on the voyage to America in 1741, she is survived by her sister, Enid Raaen, of Cleveland, Ga.; sons, Frank Lewis Moyes of Boulder, Colo. and Peter Neild Moyes of Highland Park; daughter Christy Morgan of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two grandchildren, Frank Bockius Moyes of New Tripoli, Pa. and Ariane Moyes of Singapore; and three grandchildren, Cooper, Jackson and Benjamin Moyes.
Her husband, Frank died in 1990 and daughter Marilyn in 1952.
A memorial service will be held at Yardley Friends Meeting.
