Notes for Matilda FETTERS
Matilda F. (Fetters) Bryant, 98, of Media, formerly of Havertown, died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Lima Estates Medical in Media of natural causes.
Born on Feb. 13, 1911, in Upper Darby, she was the daughter of the late George Wadas Fetters and Hannah (Leighton) Fetters.
She was the widow of Gordon J. Bryant, who died on March 15, 1997.
She is survived by a son, G. John Jr., husband of Mary Bryant; son Geoffrey B., husband of Debbie Bryant; daughter Elizabeth B., wife of the late Martin Monaghan; and daughter Ruth Anne "Bunnie," partner of Mary. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gordon, Patty, Natalie, Rick, Aaron, Matt and Kayla; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Harner; and brothers George and Burton Fetters.
A homemaker, she volunteered for many years at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital Thrift Shop and for the American Cancer Society. She was also involved with the Girl Scouts in Havertown. She loved to play bridge and cards and was a very good cook, baker and seamstress.
She was a longtime member of the Union United Methodist Church in Havertwon where she taught nursery school and was a member of the United Methodist Women's organization.
