Notes for James Gray WEAVER

James Gray Weaver enlisted in the 97th Pennsylvania Regiment on 30 Sept 1861. He was assigned to Company G. In 1862 he was in Hilton Head, South Carolina when there was a Yellow Fever epidemic. James was given a surgical certificate for a physical disability and discharged from the regiment on 15 November 1862.

James Weaver and his wife are buried in Media Cemetery next to the family of Jacob Weaver. It was thought that James may have been the son of Jacob. However, the pension records from the Civil War show him to have died with his mother Elizabeth E. Weaver present. A search of the wills in the Delaware County Court House shows Samuel Weaver of Chester had a will filed 30 September 1841. His heir was his wife Elizabeth E. Weaver. A will for Elizabeth Weaver in Will Book F page 558 showed that she died 29 June 1876. It mentions her children, Elizabeth N. Sutton (deceased), Rebecca, Sarah Sutton, Mary Wood, Samuel, and Isaac W. The will also mentions Samuel and Elizabeth, children of deceased son James. The will mentions Thomas L. Sutton as the husband of daughter Sarah. Elizabeth was to be buried in Chester Rural Cemetery next to her husband and daughter Elizabeth.
