Notes for Charles Baker II HAWS

Charles B. Haws, 82, of East Bradford, a retired welder for R.M. Armstrong Co. of West Chester, died of emphysema Saturday at Chester County Hospital.
Mr. Haws worked 45 years at Armstrong, which produces heat transfer equipment for the chemical and processing industries. He previously worked five years for Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. in Chester.
Mr. Haws was a descendant of William Brinton, who, with his family, settled in the Brinton Lake area in 1684.
During World War II, Mr. Haws served with the Navy aboard the cruiser Alaska in the South Pacific.
Among Mr. Haws' pastimes was fox hunting with friends throughout the county.
"Charlie and his friends use to follow the foxes and shoot the breeze and get in some exercise," said his wife of 54 years, Grace Frank Haws.
He also enjoyed deer hunting.
Mr. Haws was a 69-year member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Westtown and Thornton Roads, Thornton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Charles B. 3rd and Robert F.; daughters, Joan E. Hale and Suzanne M. Young; a sister; 10 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today at Boyd Funeral Home, Church and Miner Streets, West Chester, followed by Masonic services at 8 p.m. Another visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
