Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa.
October 21, 1913

Mrs. Hannah Engle Malin

The death is announced on Sunday morning at 12:45 o'clock of Mrs. Hannah Engle Malin of 136 East Union street.

Mrs. Malin was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of William P. and Elizabeth P. Garrett. Her family later resided at Goshenville for a number of years during which time she became the wife of George E. Malin, a well known carpenter, of East Union street this borough. She leaves three children: a son, John A., of South Walnut street, this place; Mrs. Belle Malin Hunt, wife of Wm. T. Hunt, and Mrs. Lizzie Malin Heald, wife of A. D. Heald, of this place. She has two sisters, Mrs. Mary A Priest, of Thornton, formerly of East Goshen, widow of the late Frank Priest, and Mrs. Sallie E. Way, wife of William Way, of Wilkes-Barre. One sister, Mrs. Julia McMahon, of Philadelphia and a brother George H, Garrett, formerly prominent hotel man of Cleveland, Ohio, both died within the last few years. She also leaves eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The deceased was loved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance and in time of need was always the first to offer her sympathy and all assistance in her power. Many a family in this place has need to remember her kindly offices in their time of distress. She will not soon pass from the memory of her former neighbors and host of friends.

During last winter the deceased suffered from a serious attack of rheumatism and from this she never fully recovered. One month ago she suffered an attack of heart trouble, caused primarily by rheumatism, and never rallied to any extend from this affliction, gradually growing weaker until the end, which was like her life had been, peaceful in the extreme. her devoted husband and daughters were with her at the time the passing came, as they have been at all times possible sine she was stricken by the fatal illness.
