Notes for Mary Louise MOORE

Mary Louise Caldwell, age 95, of Orange City Florida, formerly of Chatham and Coatesville, Pa passed away on Tuesday, June 27 in Orange City with her daughter Sally at her side. Her husband of 59 years, Solomon Pusey Caldwell, predeceased her on July 1, 2005.

Born in Chatham, Pennsylvania, Mary grew up on a dairy farm and was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Moore. Mary graduated from West Chester State Teachers College in 1943 with a B.S. degree in Physical and Health Education. She then taught Physical Education in Claymont, Delaware and the Coatesville Area School District, PA.

Mary married Pusey in 1946. During their years together they lived in Camden NJ, Pittsburgh PA, Pampa TX, Coatesville PA, Newark DE, Stuart FL, and Orange City FL. Mary lived at John Knox Retirement Village in Orange City since 2002 where she was very active leading activities helping and serving others.

She played golf, croquet, bridge, called bingo and delivered mail to residents, and was an avid reader. Every August she so looked forward to coming to Pennsylvania to visit with her whole family at the Moore Family Reunion at London Grove Friends Meeting. For Christmas she’d fly to California to be with daughter Sally. They had even traveled to Iceland together as recently as this past February. She and Pusey enjoyed traveling which took them to all 50 states, Europe and the Holy Land.

Mary was a birthright member of the Religious Society of Friends at the London Grove Meeting in London Grove, PA. She loved the Lord and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church after her marriage. A member of Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church in Parkesburg, PA for 25 years she taught Sunday School and was President of Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was active with Girl Scouts and Children’s Parents Club. In Florida she was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church, Stuart, FL and a Stephen’s Minister, and most recently a member of River City Church in Debary, FL.

Mary is survived by two sons John William Caldwell of West Chester PA and Stephen Pusey Caldwell of Columbia MD; one daughter, Sarah Anne Lundy of Pasadena CA ;grandsons Tom and Andrew Caldwell, and great-grandchildren Bridget, Julia, and Finley. Granddaughter Allison predeceased Mary.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at London Grove Friends Meeting, 500 W Street Rd, Kennett Square, PA, at the intersection of Route 926 and Newark Rd.
