Notes for Mary MUEHLMATT
MARY MUEHLMATT, of Guilford CT, formerly of Media PA, died of natural causes, quietly, Wednesday June, 24 2009, at Madison House Care and Rehab Center, Madison CT.
Mary was predeceased, in 2003, by her beloved husband Charles Sumner Worrilow Jr., who she was married to for 56 years. Born August 9, 1925, daughter of the late Ernest F. and Mary Frankel Muehlmatt of Upper Darby, PA. Mary is survived by her sons Charles Sumner Worrilow III and Scott Ernest Worrilow both of East Falmouth MA. Also surviving Mary are her 2 brothers, Ernest F. Muehlmatt Jr. of Salisbury MD and Theodore D. Muehlmatt of Media PA. She also leaves behind 3 granddaughters, Heather, Jennifer and Elizabeth Worrilow and 2 great grand-sons, Nicholas Charles Whitman and Douglas Darnell Jr. and a third great grandson is expected any day.
Mary was a professional bird carver for over 30 years and entered competitions nationally, winning many awards for her carvings. She taught bird-carving at Guilford Handcrafts Center in Guilford CT and at the Thousand Islands Arts Center in Clayton NY, where she had summered for many years. She also enjoyed garden-ing and the love for flowers and plants.
Burial will be private but a Celebration of Mary's Life is scheduled for Noon on Monday, July 13, 2009, at her home "in the rock garden/ledge" she loved. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in her memory to either the Thousand Islands Arts Center, 314 John St, Clayton NY 13624 or to the Guilford Handcraft Center, 411 Church St., Guilford CT 06437.
