Notes for Lynford Lardner STARR

LYNFORD LARDNER STARR, age 78, died at Thompson House in Rhinebeck NY on Jan. 6, 2005. He has lived in Rhinebeck since 1987. Born on June 7, 1926, he was the son of Dr. Isaac Starr and Edith Page Starr. His father was Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Faculty and a prominent heart specialist. Lynford is a descendant of the Lardner family, which worked with William Penn in the establishment of Phila. After serving in the army in Europe in World War II, Mr. Starr graduated from Harvard University. He lived in Paraguay, worked in international sales for Volkswagen, and then lived many years in France. Mr. Starr's wife, Jacqueline, pre-deceased him. His son Alexander of Redondo Beach, CA, his daughter, Susannah Mendonca of Rochester, NH, his long-time friend Nicholas McCausland of Rhinebeck, and a sister Vidal Clay of Westport, CT and brother Harold Starr of Chestnut Hill, PA survive him. A Memorial Service will be held at the Starr family summer lodge near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
