Notes for Bradshaw Beverley BYRD

Bradshaw Beverley Byrd, 76, the president of Westwood Farm Inc., in Berryville, Va., and a veteran of 50 years in the Virginia apple business, died of a heart ailment Jan. 5 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Byrd, a resident of Berryville, was born in Winchester, Va. He was the son of Virginia's longtime U.S. senator and former governor Harry F. Byrd.
He attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Cornell University.
He was an Army paratrooper during World War II, and he parachuted into France on June 6, 1944, four hours before the Allied landings in the invasion of Normandy. He was wounded in action three days later and was hospitalized in England.
In his business career, Mr. Byrd worked for 26 years at H.F. Byrd Inc., one of the nation's largest apple-producing firms, where he was vice president and production manager. He then joined Westwood.
His marriages to Martha R. Byrd and Shirley Dean Byrd ended in divorce.
Survivors include two daughters from his first marriage, Westwood Beverley Byrd of Washington and Anne Byrd Dean of Droitwich, England; a son from his second marriage, B. Beverley Byrd Jr. of Berryville; and three grandchildren.
