Notes for Ralph M. CHURCHMAN

Ralph M. Churchman
Surrounded by his loving family and dear friends, Ralph Churchman, 86, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of June 25, 2009.
Ralph graduated from Claymont High School in 1941 and served as a sergeant while in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, where he earned a purple heart for military merit.
He retired from DuPont after 37 years of dedicated service in the central research and development department. Ralph's loving wife Mabel (Olsen) Churchman passed away on March 25, 2003. Their grandson Mark Churchman passed away on November 18, 2008.
Among those family members and loved ones survived by Ralph are his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lonnie Schmidt of Claymont; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Esther Churchman of Michigan; his 3 grandsons, Ryan Churchman, Nicholas and James Schmidt; his great-grandson, Rowan Garza Churchman; sister-in-law, Doris (Olsen) Roth of Wilmington; nieces, Diane Roth of Wilmington, Nancy Carey of Claymont, Nona Ballback of Connecticut; nephews, James Downham of Texas and William Downham of Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Minnie Churchman; brothers, Herbert and Cecil; and sisters, Margaret McDowell and Rhoda Downham.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Tuesday, June 30, in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will be in the adjoining memorial park.
