Notes for Jean GILPIN

Jean Gilpin Cook, 84, of Brookhaven, a retired church secretary, died June 11 at Taylor Hospice in Ridley Park.
Born in Chester, Mrs. Cook was a resident of Upland before moving to Brookhaven. She was a 1943 graduate of Eddystone High School and attended business school in Philadelphia. Mrs. Cook was a secretary for Upland Baptist Church for 16 years before her retirement in 1985. She previously worked at Sun Co. for five years.
A member of Upland Baptist Church, Mrs. Cook served with the Upland Baptist Women’s Union. She was devoted to her family. Mrs. Cook enjoyed reading. She was a member of the Upland Seniors, the Order of the Eastern Star West Chester Chapter No. 352 and the Chester Branch of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors: Husband of 63 years, John W. Cook Sr.; sons, John W. Cook Jr. of Ocean City, Md., David H. Cook of Landenberg, Chester County, Robert P. Cook of Hollywood, Fla.; daughter, Linda J. Cook of Brookhaven; one grandchild.
Service: Noon today at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Route 352) and Knowlton roads, Middletown
Visitation: 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial: Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord.
