Notes for Claude Frederick WYTTENBACH

LONGTIME OFFICE MANAGER, 87 C. Frederick Wyttenbach, 87, retired office manager for a Montgomery County company, died Friday in the medical center of the Foulkeways retirement community in Gwynedd.
He retired in 1973 from American Olean Tile Co., a former Lansdale firm.
Mr. Wyttenbach was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and moved with his family to Philadelphia at age 7. He graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1928, he went to work as an office boy at the former Columbia Steel & Equipment Co. in Philadelphia. He worked his way up to company treasurer, then left in 1955 when the firm was acquired by another company.
The next year, Mr. Wyttenbach joined American Olean Tile, which was owned by the Schweiker family. He was hired as office manager, the job left vacant when future Sen. Richard Schweiker entered Pennsylvania politics.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Mr. Wyttenbach was active in the Sea Scouts, who helped patrol the waters surrounding Philadelphia.
He and his wife of many years, Lorene Nelson Wyttenbach, moved to Foulkeways in 1978. She died in 1985.
Mr. Wyttenbach is survived by his wife of almost eight years, Marguerite S. Roberts Spillman Wyttenbach; children Richard H. and Suzanne W. Buckley; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral and burial were to be private.
