Notes for Ann GILMORE

Ann Gilmore Taylor, 80, of Cape May, N.J., formerly of West Chester, passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2009, after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Walter S. Taylor, with whom she had shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, Ann was the daughter of the late James and Anna Carney Gilmore.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (and John) Gordon, of Chadds Ford and Suzanne (and James) Reddick of Melbourne, Fla.; sisters, Jane Kurtz and Mildred Morgan, both of Cape May Point; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, James Jr.; and her sisters, Dorothy Morgan and Adelaide Hoepfner.
Ann was a 1946 graduate of Roxborough High School, where she was class president. She graduated from West Chester State Teachers College in 1950 and later retired from the West Chester Area School District, after teaching there for 33 years.
After her retirement, Ann was a substitute teacher in the elementary schools in the Cape May area.
She was a member of both the Pennsylvania State and New Jersey education associations, the Chester County Antique Car Club, the New Jersey Questers, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Cape May Garden Club and the Women's Auxiliary of Burdette Tomlin Hospital (Cape Regional Medical Center). She also volunteered at the Nature Center of Cape May and the Colonial House.
Ann was a published poet who traveled extensively, collected antiques and loved to complete crossword puzzles.
A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the Sudak-Danaher Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May, where friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Contributions are suggested in Ann's memory to the Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Ave., Cape May, NJ 08204.
