Mercer E. Gibson, son of Russell and Mildred (Koenemann) Gibson, was married for 54 years to Anna "Nancy"(Peirce) Gibson. They were the parents of a son, Dietrich (stillborn), and two daughters, Jeanne Glenfield (now deceased) and Nancy Lowe. They were grandparents to 5 grandchildren. Early in life Mercer served in the Coast Guard. He worked as a mechanical engineer for most of his adult life. He was involved in Masonry for many years rising through the ranks to Shriner. He was of the Episcopal faith but was a Presbyterian at his death.
