Notes for Elizabeth CORNWALL
Elizabeth C. Pyle of Charlestown Township Elizabeth C. Pyle, 88, a longtime resident of Charlestown Township, passed away on June 30, 2006. Elizabeth was the wife of the late Harold F. Pyle. Born in February of 1918 in Lionville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha Smedley Cornwall. Elizabeth was a graduate of West Chester High School and then received a degree from Drexel University in 1940. She later went on to receive a teaching certificate from West Chester. She worked for CIBA during WWII and volunteered at Valley Forge Military Hospital. She went on to work for many years as an executive secretary for Wyeth Laboratories. Elizabeth was secretary/treasurer for Charlestown Township for 10 years and was a member of the following: Lionville Womens Club, St. Peters Lutheran Church, Drexel Alumni Association, Senior Extension, Charlestown Historical Society and the Uwchlan Grange. She was also proud to assist her husband in operating the family dairy farm. She was the president of the St. Peters Lutheran Church 200th Anniversary Committee, where she also wrote the history of the church. She was also a member of the PA Farmers Association and American Farm Bureau. She is survived by her children: Thomas, Ernest and Marian Pyle and Marjorie Bradford and two grandchildren; William and Elizabeth. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Elizabeths Life Celebration Service on Wednesday, July 5 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Peters Church, Clover Mill Road in Chester Springs. A service will follow at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Eye Tumor Research Foundation, PO Box 832, Philadelphia, PA 19105-0832.
