Notes for Sally SHEPHERD
Sally S. Thomas of the Lutheran Community at Telford died Monday Aug. 22 2005 at the age of 85. She was the devoted wife of 62 years of Dr. Howard Thomas. She was the daughter of the late William and Edith Shepherd. She attended American University in Washington DC and graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore MD and Gwynedd Mercy College in Gwynedd.
She formerly served on the boards of the Souderton Area School District and Norristown State Hospital. She was a founding member of the Bucks-Montgomery County Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
Mrs. Thomas was an active member of Gwynedd Friends Meeting (Society of Friends Quaker).
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children Bonnie of West Chester Beth Ann of Lancaster Howard "Tom" III of Doylestown and Richard "Mark" of St. Paul MN; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Susan; and sisters Mary Ellen Vaillancourt and Dorothy Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday Sept. 11 at Gwynedd Friends Meeting Gwynedd. (Intersection of Route 202 and Sumneytown Pike). In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to NAMI-PA 2149 Second St. Harrisburg PA 17110. Arrangements are by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale.
