Notes for Edward Thomas Sr. HANNUM

Edward Thomas Hannum Sr., 84, of Rosedale, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Chester County Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Kennett Township, he was the son of the late Sara B. Cloud Hannum and Edward D. Hannum.
He attended Kennett schools and graduated from George School in 1942.
For the past three years he resided at Brandywine Hall, West Chester.
He worked on the family farm in a business that began with mushroom houses. They grew tomatoes and flowers in their greenhouses and had several acres of peonies.
Ed also worked in West Chester at National Foam and at Wyeth Laboratories, from which he retired in 1989 after 25 years.
He enjoyed collecting historical artifacts.
He was very knowledgeable about local history and was a member of the Kennett Township Historical Commission.
He was a life member of the Elks and served as treasurer of the Chester County Florists Association.
He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Meadows, wife of David of Kennett Square; daughter, Jane Buffum of Kennett Township; son, E. Thomas, husband of Holly of North East, Md.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Hannum, of North East, Md.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Old Kennett Friends Cemetery, Route 1, Hamorton, followed by a memorial meeting for worship in the adjoining meeting house.
