Notes for Sarah Wood VERLENDEN
(Mortuary Notice of The Philadelphia Inquirer on Feb. 12, 1889)
"LORD--On February 9, 1889, SARAH W. LORD, widow of the late Simeon Lord. Funeral services at her late residence, No. 1022 Ludlow Street, West Philadelphia, this afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Interment private."
Sarah Wood (Verlenden)Lord was the daughter of John Verlenden (Vallindan)(Verlinden) and wife Elizabeth Wood. 1810 U.S. Census shows one daughter under 5 years of age. That is Sarah their oldest child and first born.
Sarah is two generations from John Wood, her grandfather, who served in the Revolutionary War as a drummer. Proved by Adaline Virginia (Lord) Carroll National Number 287236 of the Daughters Of The American Revolution. Adaline is a daughter of Sarah Lord of this memorial page.
Sarah was born in Elkton Maryland. Her son William Rufus Bicklen Lord's death certificate states his mother with the maiden name of Sarah Verlenden was born in Eastern Shore Maryland. Another son lists his mother's place of birth as Elkton Maryland. Sarah and Simeon Lord were married 31 May 1828. Their children are listed under her husband's Memorial page.
Family notes say 13 children were born to them and 4 died in infancy. Twelve have been documented with records of proof at this time. The last one to find is one who died in infancy. They are listed under her husband Simeon Lord's Memorial Page.
James Lord, Elizabeth Lord, and Charles Lane Lord listed below under Sarah Wood (Verlenden) Lord's children were in fact RE-INTERRED from Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania to Mount Moriah on the same day in November 1865. I have found records for Charles Lane Lord and am looking for records for James Lord and Elizabeth Lord. They all had died of course before 1865.
