Notes for Darwin Jr. Morton WAY

Lt. Col. Darwin “Dart” Morton Way Jr., 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore, Md.
He was the husband of George Ann Matyas Way, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born Jan. 28, 1939, in West Chester, he was the son of the late Darwin M. and Violet Darlington Way.
Lt. Col. Way served in Germany, Korea, Okinawa and Vietnam, as well as at Fort Belvoir, Fort Bragg, and multiple tours at the Pentagon. While in the Office of the Army Chief of Staff, he assisted the U.S. Congressional budget process and participated in the early beta testing at DARPA, which became the forerunner of today’s Internet. Lt. Col. Way retired with 21 years service as a U.S. Army combat engineer.
Dart’s second career was as project manager and management consultant with several “Big 6” firms. In 1990, he established Way Associates Inc., All Ways Travel and in 2007, Coldwell Banker Eastern Shore.
Mr. Way earned a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and a master’s degree from Arizona State University.He had served on the Ocean Pines Board of Directors, as the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation Executive Committee chairperson, and as the chairman of the Worcester County Ocean Pines Water and Wastewater Advisory Committee. Mr. Way was currently serving on the board of directors of Captions Cove and was active in Kiwanis International, Greater Ocean Pines, Ocean City Chapter.
A funeral service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, July 27, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Kiwanis Greater Ocean Pines, Ocean City Foundation, 239 Ocean Parkway, Ocean Pines, MD 21811; or to the Wor-Wic Community College Foundation, 3200 Campus Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Holloway Funeral Home P.A. of Pocomoke City, Md.
